In una puntata di Web al 100%, Antonio Gulli di Ask.com, uno dei motori di ricerca alternativi ai leader del mercato, aveva annunciato nuovi servizi (almeno nella versione dot-com) senza spingersi oltre nei dettagli. Ho notato nella bar della home di Ask.com, un nuovo servizio, AskCity, di cui leggo su Techcrunch una recensione. Nel blog di Ask per ora non c’è nulla al riguardo, in ogni modo ho testato il nuovo servizio: se finora le Mappe di Google e quelle di Yahoo erano le migliori presenti sul mercato, ora anche Ask inizia a dar battaglia, con un servizio di Mappe leggero e rivolto anche al settore business mediante l’integrazione di informazioni locali, reviews, ed un ottimo search, favorito anche dalle key categories come Events, Movies, Business. E’ possibile condurre ricerche multiple, creare itinerari multi-punto, il tutto utilizzando anche informazioni provenienti da servizi esterni ma sempre di proprietà di Ask: interessante la possibilità di inserire label e grafici sulla mappa. Il layout tra l’altro è molto leggero, mi piace la realizzazione in 3 colonne che facilizza l’utilizzo anche agli utenti che hanno elevate risoluzioni video: la feature “take snapshot” consente di salvare la mappa per un utilizzo futuro. La compatibilità che ho testato finora su diversi browsers è ottima, provate voi stessi (specie gli utenti Mac che usano l’ottimo Safari): il servizio è localizzato per ora principalmente per gli U.S. , Ask Italia infatti non consente ancora questo servizio.

In an Mp3 of 100% Web, Antonio Gulli of Ask.com, one of the research engines alternative to the leaders of the sector, announced new services (at least in the dot-com version) without pushing him further on in the details. The layout is very light, I like the realization in 3 columns than easily use it also to the users who have raised display solutions: the feature “take snapshot” allows to save the map for future use. The compatibility on browsers unusuals is excellent, you try (especially the Mac users who use the excellent safari): the service is principally located for the moment for the U.S. , Ask Italia in fact does not allow this service yet.
[UPDATE, 4 December] Robert Scolbe fa notare che AskCity non indicizza Amsterdam, lo stesso è accaduto a me con alcune città Italiane, basti provare con Napoli (Naples).
