English Version

Sphere is a search engine for the blog launched in May and has had many assents, from blog as Techcrunch, ZDNet. The characteristics of the San Francisco startup are described in an eminent way by Ryan Freitas on the site of the Adaptive Path partner. The website is divided into three principal areas: blog search results, featured blogs (the most authoritative blog according to the looked terms), middle related ( news, podcasts, images concerning the query you have sent). The results of the Sphere search have filtered for date and importance, and obviously also a combination of both the factors: the approach of the Sphere algorithm is interesting in defining the authority of a source. Technorati, leader of this sector, determines it basing only blog moles on the total link number while Sphere uses three factors: the outgoing and incoming link to the blog, meta data of the blog (length of the posts, frequency writes with a semantic analysis of the posts). The results of this approach seem good, i invite everybody to test the service of Sphere, which is included also of a section Tools and Tips: there is for instance a widget for the blogs or the classical search plugin for Firefox but still not at all to what to do with the developer of Technorati. Maybe is still soon to define Sphere as Technorati antagonist but the challenge is open: to all advantage of the users.
